Gay Pride in Moscow
Friday February 17, 2006
Being gay in Russia and some other Eastern European nations has not only been frowned upon, but it has been dangerous. With the process of "Westernization," will tolerance prevail? Not for awhile, and not easily, according to this BBC story about a potential Gay Pride Parade on May 27. St. Petersburg is the most tolerant city in Russia, as can be seen by its array of gay clubs (see Top Clubs of St. Petersburg for an example), but the rest of Russia has a long way to go when it comes to accepting homosexuality.
