Top Ten Safety Tips for Hitchhiking in Eastern Europe

Saturday April 15, 2006
Hitchhiking remains a common means of transport for Eastern European locals. However, each country has its own hitchhiking customs and culture, so foreigners can be seen as easy prey for criminals--especially (and forgive me for being non-PC) if you are female. And even though it has been big news, its been difficult to get a good idea about how dire the flooding in Eastern Europe is from day to day. I have updated as much as possible. And all countries that have experience flooding are doing heavy-duty cleanup as they assess the damage.
