Flooding in the Balkans

Monday April 17, 2006
For those of you who have been keeping tabs on the flood situation in Eastern and Central Europe, you may have become aware that the overflowing Danube's waters have rushed into Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria. Waters have not yet peaked in these areas, and citizens of affected regions have rushed to protect their cities, villages, and farmland. A recent BBC article has a map of the regions most recently ovewhelmed by flooding issues.

To track this natural disaster throughout its course in international news stories, see Flooding in Central and Eastern Europe.
