Lomonosov Porcelain

Tuesday August 1, 2006
Lomonosov porcelain is a rather impractical, but highly desirable, souvenir from Russia that can be admired as well as used. Famous for over 2 centuries, the Lomonosov porcelain factory has produced local porcelain tableware, figurines, and other decorative items for both royalty and commoners alike. However, these pieces are anything but common, and their stunning patterns trimmed in gold impress guests every time. Serve your favorite Russian traditional cuisine (easy to whip up with the help of Russian cookbooks) on Lomonosov porcelain or use Lomonosov porcelain to decorate your home.

Some of the most spectacular pieces of Lomonosov porcelain are held in the Porcelain Room of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. However, you can find Lomonosov porcelain at Izmaylovo Market in Moscow along with other Russian souvenirs. While prices may vary abroad, it might be wise to purchase Lomonosov porcelain online to avoid damaging it when you try to pack it in your suitcase for the flight home!
