Russian Tea is Not 'Canned Capitalism'
Russian tea culture may rival the tea cultures of Japan or England. Whether from a samovar or from an electric tea kettle, you'll be offered tea where ever you go in Russia.
This rather humorous Russian Tea "How To" is the most amusing tea reference I've had the enjoyment of reading. Despite the allusions to "Canned Capitalism" (Coca-Cola) and the revelation that "tea is made of tea," anyone who has any interest in the complexities of Russian tea will find this document of interest.
Some tea-related food items of dubious Russian origin can be mighty yummy as well:
- Russian Tea Mix - not quite tea, not quite Russian.
- Russian Tea Cakes - if I ever discover that these are truly of Russian origin, I'll let you know.
- Chai Naya - tea + vodka = authentic!
One more important point about Russian tea . . . never ask for it "iced." Tea in Russia should be hot, and drinks with ice are typically avoided.
