Auschwitz-Birkenau at Risk in the Event of Flooding
Monday September 22, 2008
Increasingly aberrant weather patterns may put Poland's Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum in danger. If the nearby Vistula River floods, experts say, the former Nazi death camp could see major damage. Upkeep of the museum is costly without flood damage; worry persists that historical buildings "will collapse" in the absence of funding. Flood damage - or measures taken to prevent flood damage - increases the need for monetary support. The museum has an annual budget that is supplemented with donations from outside sources.
You can read about donating to Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum on its website.
