Sljivovica, Serbian Plum Rakija

One of the perks of travel is sampling the local spirits. Southeastern Europeans savor their rakia (also spelled rakija), a strong alcohol made from fruit. Similar to brandy, rakia can be made from apricots, grapes, pears, berries, or other fruits. Both homemade and commercial versions can be sampled.
