St. Vitus Cathedral

Friday June 26, 2009
When you buy your tickets to see Prague Castle, don't let large crowds sway you from visiting St. Vitus Cathedral. This huge Gothic structure, with its rose window, bejeweled chapels, delicate-looking buttresses, tombs, monuments, and frescoes, will overwhelm even the most apathetic traveler. Centuries' worth of art and architecture work together under one roof to create a visual display unmatched by any museum.

Visitors should plan to see St. Vitus Cathedral early in the day. The audio tour that can be rented at the ticket booth is well worth the extra korunas. It will draw your attention to aspects of the cathedral that might have otherwise been overlooked and will answer most of your questions if you don't mind its plodding pace.
