Saturday September 5, 2009

A collection of art by Wassily Kandinsky, one of Russia's great 20th century artists, will be exhibited at the Guggenheim from September 18, 2009 to January 13, 2010. The exhibit, called Kandinsky will pull from the Guggenheim's own collection as well as from the collections of individuals and institutions around the world.

Some of Kandinsky's work can be found in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. Kandinsky was born in Moscow and worked there for a time, but he also worked extensively in Germany and France, and museums in these countries have contributed to the Kandinsky exhibit at the Guggenheim.
