Russian Culture Monday: Rostov Veliky

Rostov Veliky has such a historic reputation that it was know as "the Great" in medieval times. The town is famous for its kremlin complex, which is home to examples of Orthodox art and other areas of interest, one of the oldest monasteries in Russia, and local crafts available for purchase by visitors. Rostov Veliky can be reached from Moscow and is one of its Golden Ring cities. It can be visited as a part of a larger tour of the area or as an interesting day trip from the capital.
