Tallinn is well-rounded in the museum department and has museums detailing every era of the city's development. The Dominican Monastery Museum is housed in one of Tallinn's oldest standing buildings, while the Viru Hotel KGB Museum demonstrates spy techniques used on hotel guests in the 20th century. The famous Kiek in de Kok Tower connects to the bastion tunnels, which are able to be explored with a guide, and Peter the Great's cottage shows how the emperor lived while waiting for his larger palace to be constructed on a nearby site.
