Tirana, Albania

Tirana - Albania's Capital City:
Tirana is Albania's capital and also its largest city. The name Tirana may derive from Greek words historically used to refer to the city. Another theory suggests Tirana may get its name from an ancient castle.
Tirana - History:
Humans have long been using the area that is present-day Tirana, and archeologists have uncovered Paleolithic artifacts as evidence to support this idea. Though Tirana was established in the early 1700s, it wasn't until the early 20th century that it became the capital city of Albania.
Tirana - Getting Around:
Bus and taxi services may be the most reliable form of transportation for visitors to Tirana. Trains connect Tirana to other cities in Albania.
Tirana - Attractions:
Tirana is home to many historic attractions, including a fortresses and castles, churches and mosques, and more. Monuments and museums are also of interest and pay tribute to Tirana's culture and history.
Tirana - Weather:
Tirana's weather is warm or moderate year-round. The average highs for the hottest summer months (June, July, August) are around 90 degrees F, and the temperatures of the coolest months (December through February) see average highs in the 50s.
