New Town Brewery, Prague
Classic Pub Dining with Flair

About.com Rating 5

By Kerry Kubilius, About.com

This brewery in the heart of Prague combines fine beers, hearty foods, and welcoming atmosphere.

Food

One of the restaurant's specialities is pork knuckle, and other items on the menu similarly call to mind hunter's fare. Duck, chicken, pork, cabbage, and potatoes are common ingredients, so this restaurant is not for anyone used to light, "healthy" food (however, they do offer vegetarian dishes). The specialties have rustic names like "Old Bohemian Platter" and "Brewer's Pan." The "Village Feast" is for 8-12 people, so bring friends, tuck your napkin into your shirt, and dig in.

Atmosphere

Various rooms, like the Brewhouse, the Councillor's Lounge, the Gentleman's Lounge, the Barn, and the Fermenting Cellars allow diners to experience difference aspects of the brewery and various views of Prague. In the Fermenting Cellars, you can even watch the beer brew in large vats as you eat. An according player is kept busy in the evenings to entertain diners with traditional Czech music. Dogs are welcome, too, which only adds to the friendly pub atmosphere.
