What to See in Gdansk

Gdansk is full of sights, many of which deal with Gdansk's maritime history. Visitors can trace this history from the medieval crane that still stands on the waterfront to the gates of the Gdansk shipyards, which were the origins of a major political movement in the later half of the 20th century.

Public Transportation in Gdansk

A limited tram service is available in Gdansk, so if you want to get anywhere late at night or go somewhere your legs can't take you, catch one of the many cabs in the city. Buses and trains connect to nearby cities, like Gdynia and Sopot.

Malbork Castle

Malbork is an easy day trip from Gdansk. The main attraction in this small town is Malbork Castle, an enormous Teutonic Knights' Castle that has undergone extensive restoration.

Future of Gdansk

Though Gdansk has a rich history, it is not stuck in the past. Gdansk is looking forward to its bright future with new construction projects aimed at drawing businesses and attracting visitors. Young City is a development project on the site of the former shipyards.
