The Global Village program is Habitat for Humanity's international opportunity for volunteers to combine overseas travel with constructing houses for needy families. Trips last approximately 2 weeks each and usually include local sightseeing.
Where in Eastern Europe Can I Participate in the Global Village Program?:
The Global Village program sends volunteers to Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Russia. Volunteers work in villages with needy populations alongside team members that are both from the host village and from abroad. Volunteers experience local culture, gain memorable experiences, and establish meaningful friendships.
How Much Does Participation in the Global Village Program Cost?:
Costs vary, depending upon the destination. The price of the trip will include food, in-country transportation, lodging, any cultural excursions, travel insurance, materials necessary for orientation, as well as a donation to the local Global Village affiliate. Round-trip airfare is extra. Volunteers must either participate in fund-raising activities or finance their own trip. A trip to Eastern Europe can cost, before airfare, between 1300 and 1600 USD.
How Can I Volunteer for the Global Village Program?:
Volunteering for the Global Village Program is a straightforward process. Simply identify your destination of choice from the Global Village Work Trip Schedule and identify which time periods/locations are best for you. You will be required to fill out an application form, and the team leader for the trip in which you would like to participate will conduct an interview. At the time of acceptance, you will be asked to make a deposit of 350 USD.
