Slovenia's Lake Bled is a popular tourist destination. Its attractions include Bled Castle, Bled Island, churches, various outdoor activities and natural sights, and more. Lake Bled itself is not large. It's possible to walk the perimeter of the lake in under three hours.
Bled Castle:
Bled Castle is one of Lake Bled's most popular attractions. The castle is perched on a cliff, and with a backdrop of trees and the lake water in the foreground, it creates the perfect scene for romantic photographers. The castle, with its chapel and museum, also offers a great view of the lake and the mountains. Concerts are also held at Bled Castle
Bled Island:
It's possible to get to Bled Island and its Church of the Assumption by small boat. The church dates from the 17th century, but frescoes and a statue of the Virgin Mary date from the Gothic church that existed prior to its most recent reincarnation. The church also features a belltower and outbuildings for guests and church administrator.
Lake Bled's Outdoor Attractions:
Besides rowing to Bled Island, visitors to Lake Bled can go hikes, rent bikes, go horseback riding, swim, fish, and more. Vintnar Gorge is particularly popular, and can be reached from Lake Bled on foot. On a trip to Vintnar Gorge, hikers can also see the Sum waterfall and the Church of St. Catherine. Pokljuka Gorge, Iglica Waterfall, and the Babji Zob Caves may also be of interest.
