Why Visit Malbork?:
Malbork Castle is the town of Malbork's main claim to fame. There is little else to do in Malbork, but if you want to see the castle, you can easily devote an afternoon to taking a tour.
Getting to Malbork:
Malbork can be easily reached by taking the train that runs between Gdansk and Warsaw. The town center and castle are both within walking distance from the train station. If you don't plan on staying overnight, simply store your bags in one of the lockers available for rent.
Staying in Malbork:
Malbork has become increasingly attractive to tourists, so a couple of newer hotels have been built to compete with the old stand-by's. For example, the Grot Hotel is a fairly new establishment with modern rooms and a restaurant. Just note that it is not necessary to stay overnight in Malbork, and you might find your time better spent traveling on to your next destination.
Getting Around Malbork:
You can catch a taxi from the train station, but Malbork is easily seen on foot. Walk through town central until you get to Malbork's Old Town; you'll be able to see the castle above the trees.
Dining in Malbork:
If you're hungry during your stay in Malbork, you have plenty of options. While it is recommended you dine before touring Malbork Castle, there are a couple of cafe-restaurants inside the castle grounds. For full meals, a drink, or a rest, visit a restaurant at one of the hotels. For a snack, stop for ice cream or a coffee at an outdoor stand.
