The wooden churches of Southern Little Poland (or the Malopolska Province), are located in Binarowa, Blizne, Debno, Haczow, Lipnica Murowana, and Sekowa. Protected by World Heritage status, these churches represent medieval wooden construction in various styles and floor plans. Visitors to these churches will be as struck by the colorful interior paintings as they will with the graceful designs of the wooden construction of the churches.
The Six Wooden Churches:
The six wooden churches inscribed into the World Heritage list include:
- Church of the Archangel Michael in Binarowa
- All Saints Church in Blizne
- Church of the Archangel Michael Church in Debno
- Church of the Assumption of the Blessed VirginMary and the Archangel Michael in Haczow,
- St. Leonard's Church in Lipnica Murowana
- Church of St. Philip and St. James the Apostles in Sekowa
Visiting the Churches of Southern Little Poland:
These medieval wooden churches are located in the general vicinity of Krakow in small villages. Unless the region is being explored by car, the average tourist might find the easiest way to see these churches is by booking a tour of the region.
