Transportation in Prague is easily utilized. Whether your priority is speed, convenience, or cost, Prague has a method of transportation that will suit your needs.

Taxis in Prague

While a taxi ride in Prague is going to be the most expensive form of transportation, it can be the most convenient if you are headed somewhere with luggage. Beware of independent taxi drivers or unmarked taxis. Use a radio taxi and negotiate the cost of the ride in advance.

Prague's Metro

Efficient and easily navigable, the metro may be one of the best ways to get around Prague. Don't count on using the metro if you plan on partying until the wee hours of the morning. Between midnight and 5 am, the metro stops running.

Trams

Inexpensive and foolproof, trams are a great way to get around Prague. Tickets must be purchased at a kiosk or metro station prior to boarding and then validated using the machine upon boarding. If you are unsure about how this works, just watch your fellow passengers.

While trams run frequently throughout the day, they run a reduced schedule after midnight.

Buses

It's only necessary to use Prague's bus system if you're planning on exploring the outskirts of Prague, which may not have much to offer the average visitor. For most intercity trip, select another mode of transportation.
