Putna Monastery dates from the 15th century. While it is not one of the Painted Monasteries for which Bucovina is famous, it is still an important historical landmark that may be of interest to visitors to the region. The largest bell of its belltower is said to have been heard all the way in Suceava when it was used to herald important events. This bell has been hanging in the belltower for almost as long as the monastery has been standing.
