Voronet is one of the closest Painted Monasteries from Suceava next to Humor, a neighboring monastery. It is also the monastery that has given name to the particular blue that makes the frescoes on the Painted Monasteries so vibrant. This blue is called "Voronet blue," and the pigment is made from lapis lazuli.

Voronet Monastery is best reached from the town Gura Humorlui. Regular trains and buses run from Suceava to Gura Humorlui, and if you choose to stay here rather than Suceava, you'll still find comfortable lodging and restaurants with varied menus.

Sucevita Monastery, one of the most inconveniently located monasteries, is a grander version of Voronet. Sucevita is larger, and contains frescoes of varying themes using vibrant Voronet blue and other colors.
