The Bronze Horseman, one of St. Petersburg's most famous monuments, was built by Catherine the Great to honor Peter the Great. A French artist was responsible for the creation of the Bronze Horseman, which was made famous in part by Pushkin's poem of the same name.

The Bronze Horseman stands on the so-called "Thunder Stone," which was hauled across Russia using only manpower, a metal track, and three boats.
