Samovars are a part of Russian culture that symbolize hospitality, and therefore they may be used at social gatherings, even if they are not used every day in the Russian home.

This typical metal samovar is being used to serve hot water for tea at an outdoor event. The bubliki, or Russian bagels, are strung around the neck of the samovar, and are a traditional accompaniment to a cup of tea.

If you are a visitor in a Russian home or a guest at a Russian social gathering, you may see a samovar in use, with or without the bubliki!
