"Krasnaya Polyana" is translated as Red Valley or Red Glade. This settlement, located near Sochi in the Caucasus Mountains is famous for its ski resort. Shops, bars, restaurants, and hotels provide plenty to do for visitors who will find that the best times to ski are during winter and spring - November through May.
Due to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, which will be held in Sochi and Krasnaya Polyana, improved access between the two areas is one goal of the infrastructure projects underway. The project will also improve access between Krasnaya Polyana and the Sochi Airport. Four chairlifts provide access from the base of the mountain to the slopes for skiers.
