Where I Traveled and Why
Prague was the third city on my itinerary from my recent backpacking trip.
Highlights of My Trip
Departed Krakow from night train at 10pm and arrived Prague around 6am. Prague, what a beautiful city! Photographer's dream! I was very very fortunate, it was nice, sunny and hot the 4 days I was there. My hostel was located a breath away from Charles Bridge, where you can snap some scenic pictures of Vltalva River with Prague Castle in the background. Heading easterly on Charles Bridge, you will head towards the old town. One of the most scenic in Europe with Baroque architectures thorough out the city, outdoor cafes and restaurants. Definitely get a glimpse of the Astronomical clock. Visiting the Prague Castle is definitely a must! Take the 22 tram from old town and you will arrive at the Castle. Upon entering, you will see St. Vitus Cathedral, what an amazing piece of structure and engineering! I was in awe and remember standing there for 20 minutes with my jaw dropped. Inconceivable how they were able to built massive structures of that magnitude back in the days. About an hour away in the country side, you will find a little town - Kutna Hora, which is famous for the bone church. Even though I didn’t visit the bone church, I did manage to venture into town and got lost. Hey, can’t called it backpacking if you don’t get lost.
Advice
- Night train from Krakow departed at 10pm and arrived at Prague around 6am. Another time saver and was able to start sightseeing Prague early in the morning.
- Public transportation was a breeze to figure out.
- Unlike the TV tower in Berlin, Prague's was not crowded at all. Take the M tram to Jiriho Podebrad, walk north for about 2 blocks and you will see the TV tower. Great panaromic views of Prague from the TV Tower.
