Where I Traveled and Why

Hello

My wife and I took a cruise to St. Petersburg and the Baltic capitals.

We loved everything and the weather was cool and sunny every day so we were very lucky.

We had a 2 day organized tour with SPB tours and we got to see the Peterhof, Catherine Palace, Hermitage, Yousapov Palace, St Isaacs and the Cathedral of the Spilled Blood. We also did a full drive around the city and stopped in the famous subway.

The best thing was that I had a new HD camcorder and have most of this on dvd now so I can revisit anytime. We also took about 3000 pictures in 3 weeks as we also visited Northern Germany.

Highlights of My Trip

All the ports were highlights: Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petes, Tallinn, Gdask, and Oslo. In Germany the towns of Meiisen (where china making was discovered in 1710), Goslar and Schwerin were the highlights. We also visited Dresden and saw the new Baroque church which was just finished after collapsing from American and British bombs in February 1945.

However, the Dresden museums would not allow any photo or video so we do not go to them as we did 12 yrs ago.

Advice

  • I would highly recommend the Baltic cruise as it was great even through we did not have enough time to see all we wanted to see. Of course Northern Germany was really great including the Town hall in Hamburg which was built in the 18th century in a neogothic style
